Ray Papale, President

     Ray is President of the State College Evening Rotary, and has been a Rotarian for six years. He resides in State College, PA.  As a Rotarian, Ray has been active as a Director, a leader on Community Service and Club Service Projects and, most recently, First Vice President.  Ray has been responsible for taking the initiative to actively promote Rotary in District 7350.

     Ray and his wife, Christine, came from Pittsburgh, PA.  They have one child, Andrew, who resides in Minneapolis, MN.  Andrew attends the University of Minnesota, as a graduate student in the Department of Neuroscience, after recently graduating from Juniata College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Andrew’s ultimate passion is clinical research of brain disorders, with an eye towards pursuing Neurosurgery.

     Ray’s wife of thirty years is a Registered Nurse.  Christine graduated from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA., worked at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, and, most recently, has worked at the Mt. Nittany Surgicenter,  State College, PA., pursuing her hobby of quilting in her spare time. 

     Ray’s education includes a degree from Penn State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development in 1974. He received a graduate degree at University of Pittsburgh in Public Administration and Justice. Later, he took MBA coursework through Drexel University, in Philadelphia, PA., With an emphasis in sales and marketing, Ray 's career took him into world of business after his higher education. For the next thirty years, he traveled extensively throughout the USA, setting up offices and accounts in the banking and retail industries, as a National Sales Manager for a full service ATM manufacturer and processor of services company - WRG Services, Willoughby, OH; before that , a VicePresident/Sales for a currency processing company – Technitrol, Inc., also, as a Vice President/ISO Relations, for a check processing company, known as Nationwide Check Processing. Most recently, Ray was Vice President/Sales for the recently acquired Lipman USA, a payment systems terminal, register and ATM manufacturer.

       Today, Ray has a small consulting business, specializing in  computer systems consulting, has conducted market research in niche industries, and organizational assessment initiatives. 

       He has turned an income- producing hobby into community service through transit service driving, is an  avid PSU alum, and lives for the fall, when Penn State Football and tailgating  are a yearly ritual before each and every Penn State home football game. Ray is also an active alumni volunteer in the Penn State Alumni Association, volunteers on student advisory committees, and formerly served on the Smeal College of Business Alumni Volunteer Board, mentoring and advising students, serving on ad hoc committees.

       Ray looks forward to his year as President of the State College Evening Rotary Club, making his local theme a reality:
